Tend Advisors

Tend Advisors · Downtown San Diego

We hold the .com that names what you sell, and we say so plainly.

Claire Rosendahl, principal. Replies within one business day, Pacific time.

Tend Advisors keeps a small set of exact-match .com names and offers each one to the company whose product, category or market it describes. If one of them reached you by email, you are hearing from the person who holds it, with one price and no pressure to answer.

Said up front

What we know, and what we do not

Most notes about a domain try to sound certain about your business. Ours list what we actually checked before writing, and the things only you can answer.

What we know when we write to you

  • The name, and that we hold it outright, with nobody else to ask.
  • That it spells out something your company already sells, or the market you sell into.
  • Which address you use today, and that people looking for you may type the shorter one first.
  • The price we would accept, which we give as a single figure when you ask.

What we do not know

  • Whether a new address fits your plans this year, or at all.
  • Who at the company decides something like this, if it is not you.
  • Whether your budget has room for it now or would need a few months.
  • Whether you already tried to buy the name years ago and gave up. Tell us; it helps.

If the answer is no, one word by reply closes it, and that name will not come up again.

Where a name earns its keep

The address people guess before they search

For a brand that sells online or a service company that lives on referrals, the plain .com of the thing itself is the one customers try first. Three places that shows up:

product.com

Typed from memory

A friend recommends the product, nobody remembers the brand, and the category name goes straight into the address bar. Whoever owns that address gets the visit.

order@product.com

On every receipt

Confirmation emails, packing slips and support replies all carry the address. A short one that says what you sell is easier to trust and harder to mistype.

product.com/wholesale

Said out loud

On a podcast read, at a trade show stand or over the phone, a name that needs no spelling saves the moment where people give up.

From a reply to your registrar

A short agreement, escrow, and the name moves to you

Once you have the price and want to go ahead, we confirm the terms by email, set up the deal at a licensed escrow service, and move the name into your registrar account as soon as your payment is held there. We are paid only once you have told the escrow service the name has arrived.

For most buyers this takes a few days of their own time spread over one or two weeks. Paying over several months is possible for some names and is agreed before anything starts.

Who you are dealing with

The same person at every step

Claire Rosendahl runs Tend Advisors from an office on B Street in downtown San Diego. She finds the names, decides which company each one belongs with, writes the notes and handles the sale herself, mostly with consumer brands, online shops and service companies on the West Coast.

There is no call centre and no sales team between you and the person who can agree a price.
